The Observatory for Innovation in Healthcare Management in Catalonia is the instrument that has enabled the Catalan healthcare system to consolidate the efforts of organizations to innovate in different areas of management.

The mission of the Centre for Innovation in Healthcare Management in Catalonia is to act as a framework for promoting participation by healthcare professionals and health centres in the identification, evaluation and visibility of innovative experiences in the field of healthcare management currently under development within the Catalan health system.

The identification of strategic alliances and the internationalization of the Observatory through partnerships with other similar initiatives and expert centres in innovation are just some of the areas in which the organisation is currently working.

The Observatory for Innovation in Healthcare Management in Catalonia (OIGS as per the acronym in Catalan) has its own website, where you can find the following features:

  • A repository containing innovative experiences being developed within the organizations that comprise the Catalan healthcare system.
  • An online virtual community for innovation where organizations and professionals can register and access this participatory and collaborative area.
  • An area devoted to recommendations regarding better practices.
  • A repository of strategic alliances being developed between organizations which are part of the Catalan healthcare system.

Certification of innovative experiences and the identification of best practices

The Agency for Health Quality and Assessment of Catalonia (AQuAS) is also responsible for issuing a quality certificate for innovative initiative which have performed a quality self-assessment and had significant impact on their organizations.

Moreover, AQuAS is responsible for performing the continuous process of identification of the distinctive features and results of the best experiences of the Catalan health system to promote its extension to the whole system and issue recommendations on best practices.
